The history of Cornwater fine art dates back some 25 years in total. Having initially commenced life as International fine arts; a humble art gallery/framers on the outskirts of Nottingham.
The proprietor, learnt remarkably quickly the work that was highly regarded and sought after as an investment as opposed to decorative paintings and prints that many galleries were selling, and still do sell.
The success of the business led him to move closer into the city, and a gallery, still named International fine arts was opened opposite the Victoria centre.
Highly sought after work of the finest quality by world renowned artists, L.S.Lowry, David Shepherd and Sir William Russell Flint; International fine arts soon built up a great reputation for quality paintings. Several exhibitions were held... some of the most popular were an exhibition by Gordon King, one of the countries finest watercourists, with the artist in attendance, and the exhibition by the world renowned wildlife artist, David Shepherd, who attracted a local audience of over 500 people...
The demand for fine quality paintings and signed, limited editions, led the company to move to the centre of Nottingham city, in the Market square, to a large and beautifully prestigeous gallery. Business boomed, even through the 1990's recession, and with the help of two staff, we eventually found ourselves working seven days a week... The public and trade both recognized 'International fine arts as one of the finest galleries in England.
Concentrating on work by renowned artists and whose work was so sought after that a healthy secondary market continually increased prices. International fine arts would offer the best that was available not only in the art world, but for framing too.
A large and very successful publisher bought the gallery in 1996 for a 'foothold' in the city for their retail arm.. The proprietor, was able to eventually use this opportunity to supply both the trade and retail customers with a selection of work by the few most sought after artists in the country, namely, L.S.Lowry, David Shepherd, and Sir William Russell Flint.
With huge collections of work by these three artists, the new company was formed 'Cornwater fine art'. Word soon spread, and should a customer be looking for a painting or signed, limited edition by any of these three artists, it was often said that there was only one place to go... With the advancement of the internet, Cornwater fine art' was able to display images of the stock that they held, and the business became global...
Many clients from Europe, America and Australia .... other than visiting the studio in person, valuable work was now accessible and easily viewed. A stock of over 500 limited editions and originals by Sir William Russell Flint, over 500 signed, limited editions and original paintings by David Shepherd and well over 100 L.S.Lowry signed, limited editions keeps the business in the forefront of today's buoyant art market.
