Completing a teaching post interview, just like any other job interview, will not guarantee that you'll get the position. If you want to have an edge over other teaching applicants, it is advisable that you learn all about common teaching job interview questions, so that you'll be able to answer them well and with confidence:

1. Why do you want to teach?

This is a popular interview question for teacher applicants. It is not a good idea to answer the question by saying: 'Because my parents want me to become a teacher', or with 'I didn't pass my previous course, that's why I took up teaching'. A good teacher interview answer for this one is to say that you love children, or that you feel passionate about teaching students, and the likes. Incorporating key phrases such as ' wanting to make a difference', and 'molding kids to become better individuals' in your answer is a wise move.

2. How do you plan to discipline your students?

One of the teaching job interview questions that may seem difficult to answer is one that pertains to how you'll discipline students. It is best that you have knowledge on how a certain school wants the students disciplined. Some schools may require placing misbehaved kids in detention for discipline, while some call the kids' parents and meet with them in school.

Of course, your answer should match the school's beliefs and regulations for you to be considered for that teaching job opening. It is also a must to avoid telling the interviewer that you'll spank the child, or do something physical just to discipline him or her. An example of a good teacher interview answer to the said question is listening to the student's side of the story first before deciding on the 'punishment' to show that you are an objective teacher.

3. Are you open to coaching sessions after school? Will you be available at times after class to take part in school clubs, activities, etc?

Another interview question for teacher that you should be prepared to answer is if you're open to coaching students who may be having a hard time in class, or who may be a bit slow in learning. An interviewer may also ask you if you're open to handling school clubs, attending school programs that happen after class. Your answer to the said teaching interview job questions should always be: 'Yes'. By answering yes, your interviewer will feel your passion and dedication to your work and may think of you as a nice addition to the faculty, thus, you may be offered that teaching job opening.
